About this policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Ryan O'Flaherty, trading as TYFM ("TYFM", "we", "us" or "our"), collects, uses, stores and protects personal information when you use the TYFM website, dashboard and Discord reminder service.

TYFM stands for "Take Your F**king Meds" and provides medication reminder, accountability and stock-tracking tools.

For applicable data-protection law, Ryan O'Flaherty is the controller of personal information processed through TYFM.

Information we collect

Account information

When you create or use a TYFM account, including when you sign in using Discord, we may receive and store information such as:

  • Your email address.
  • Your Discord user ID.
  • Your Discord username and display name.
  • Your Discord avatar.
  • Information needed to connect your account and deliver TYFM's Discord features.

Medication and reminder information

We process information that you choose to enter into TYFM, which may include:

  • Medication names.
  • Dosage descriptions and quantities.
  • Reminder days and times.
  • Your selected time zone.
  • Medication stock levels.
  • Dose confirmations and related activity records.
  • Ad-hoc dose information, where that feature is available.
  • Phone number, if you choose to enable SMS escalation.

Health-related information

Medication details, reminder schedules and dose records may reveal information about your health and may constitute special-category health data under applicable data-protection law.

You should only enter information that you are comfortable storing and processing within TYFM.

Subscription and payment information

Paid subscriptions are processed using Stripe. When you subscribe, TYFM may provide Stripe with information such as your email address and other information required to create and manage your Stripe customer and subscription.

Payment-card details are collected and processed by Stripe. TYFM does not ordinarily receive or store your full payment-card number.

We may store or receive billing information including your Stripe customer identifier, subscription status, subscription and price identifiers, billing dates, payment status and information relating to cancellations, renewals or failed payments.

Stripe processes personal information in accordance with its own privacy notice and applicable terms.

Technical and usage information

We may collect technical information needed to operate, secure and troubleshoot TYFM, including:

  • IP address.
  • Browser and device information.
  • Request and access logs.
  • Error and diagnostic information.
  • Discord interaction and delivery status.
  • Security and abuse-prevention records.

Analytics information

When you consent to analytics, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use TYFM. Further information is available in our Cookie Policy .

How we use your information

  • To create and manage your TYFM account.
  • To deliver and follow up on medication reminders, including by SMS where you enable that escalation option.
  • To record dose confirmations.
  • To calculate and display medication stock levels.
  • To provide dashboard and Discord functionality.
  • To create and manage paid subscriptions.
  • To process payments and maintain billing records.
  • To administer referral benefits or promotional offers where available.
  • To communicate with you about your account, subscription, payments and important service matters.
  • To provide support and respond to enquiries.
  • To maintain security and prevent misuse.
  • To diagnose errors and improve reliability.
  • To analyse website use where you have consented to analytics.
  • To comply with applicable legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information.

Legal bases for processing

Where UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases:

  • Contract: processing needed to create your account, provide the TYFM service you requested and manage paid subscriptions.
  • Legitimate interests: operating, securing, troubleshooting and improving TYFM, preventing abuse and maintaining appropriate service records.
  • Consent: for optional analytics and where consent is otherwise required.
  • Legal obligation: where processing is needed to comply with the law, including applicable financial, accounting or tax obligations.

Medication, reminder and dose information entered into TYFM may constitute special-category health data. Where we process this information to provide TYFM's medication functionality, our Article 6 lawful basis is performance of our contract with you and, where required under Article 9, we rely on your explicit consent to process that health-related information.

Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before consent was withdrawn. Because explicit consent is the only basis we have for your medication and reminder data, withdrawing it permanently deletes that data rather than merely pausing it - it isn't retained on the chance you consent again later.

Sharing your information

We may share limited information with service providers that help us operate TYFM, including:

  • Discord, for authentication and delivery of Discord interactions and reminders.
  • Stripe, for payment processing, subscription management, billing and related payment services.
  • Google Analytics, where you have accepted analytics.
  • An SMS delivery provider, where you enable SMS escalation.
  • Hosting, database, email, logging and infrastructure providers.
  • Professional advisers or public authorities where legally required.

Providers may process information under their own terms and privacy notices and may process data outside the United Kingdom.

International transfers

Some service providers may process personal information outside the United Kingdom or European Economic Area. Where required, appropriate safeguards will be used for those transfers.

Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as it is reasonably needed to provide TYFM, maintain security, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations.

Account, reminder and medication information will ordinarily be retained while your account remains active. When an account is deleted, associated personal information will be deleted or anonymised unless it must be retained for legal, security or financial-record purposes.

If you leave the TYFM Discord server, reminders are paused rather than continuing to be sent to a channel you can no longer see. If you rejoin within 30 days, this is reversed automatically and nothing is lost. If you remain outside the server for more than 30 days, your account and the personal information associated with it (including medication and reminder data) will be deleted automatically. Because TYFM communicates with you through Discord, we are not able to send a separate warning before this happens.

Certain subscription, payment and transaction information may need to be retained after your account or subscription ends where necessary for accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution or other legal purposes.

We keep automated backups of our database, used only to recover from data loss, for up to 30 days before they are overwritten. Where you have deleted your account or withdrawn consent for your health data, that deletion is applied immediately to our live systems; it may take up to 30 days to also age out of existing backup copies.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or loss.

No internet-based service can guarantee complete security. You are responsible for protecting your Discord account and any device used to access TYFM.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

  • Request access to your personal information.
  • Correct incomplete or inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your information.
  • Restrict certain processing.
  • Object to certain processing.
  • Receive certain information in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing relies on consent.
  • Complain to an applicable data-protection authority.

In the United Kingdom, you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. We would appreciate the opportunity to address your concern first.

Children's privacy

TYFM is not intended to be independently operated by young children. A parent or legal guardian may use TYFM to help manage medication information relating to a child.

The account holder is responsible for ensuring that they have authority to enter and manage information about another person.

Related policies

Your use of TYFM is also subject to our Terms and Conditions .

More information about cookies, analytics and similar technologies is available in our Cookie Policy .

Changes to this policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy when TYFM changes or when legal requirements change. The latest version will be published here with its revision date.

Where appropriate, we may also notify existing users of significant changes through TYFM, Discord, email or another reasonable method.
